NHPR Art Mug

NHPR Art Mug

Yesterday I received word that I won the competition to create the artwork for the next New Hampshire Public Radio art mug! I confess I am a NHPR junkie (the radio is on in my car, in my house, and I even stream it online at work), so this news could not have made me happier. The painting I submitted was of a few of my favorite NH symbols: the purple finch, lilacs, and (of course) NHPR. I painted it in my preferred medium—gouache on illustration board. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. That means they’ve been around nearly as long as I have, which seems fitting. The image will be placed on the Fall 2011 art mug to be given away to donors who give to the fall pledge drive. I will be adding this painting to the “illustrations” category on my portfolio page shortly. Make sure you check back if you’d like to see it! Or you can just wait, donate to NHPR this fall, and receive a version of the painting that will be yours to keep. Though I love visitors to my site, I strongly recommend the latter. ;o)

Hi Nicole – I’m ready to make my annual donation to NHPR and would love to have one or two of your blue finch mugs. I don’t think NHPR is offering these as a gift this spring; is there any way I could buy two independent of my donation???

Thanks for writing! NHPR owns the rights to the artwork I created for the fall pledge drive mug, and they are the ones who created the lovely mugs. My original painting is now hanging up in the NHPR studios. Any use of that image now has to be through them. It might be worth calling them to check if they have any mugs left over from the fall pledge drive. If they do, they may be willing to give you a mug as a thank-you gift for your donation. They’re really nice folks over there–it would be worth a try! Best of luck, Nicole
